A Social Media Insights Product

Developing a new platform for a start-up serving the Media Monitoring market

The Client

DeepSeer offers a unique Insight-as-a-Service proposition for Sales, Marketing, Comms and Product teams.

DeepSeer differentiates itself from other media monitoring and social listening platforms by curating audiences on social platforms and reconstructing the content that these audiences are exposed to. This yields audience-led (rather than content-led) insights.

DeepSeer's technology and AI was developed by Unai from the ground-up and was iterated as the successful value proposition emerged.

THE CHALLENGE

The sheer amount of data to be ingested meant that Unai would have to find ways to summarise and highlight the important trends to end users - who would otherwise be lost in the deluge of content. This meant turning to machine learning methods. Furthermore, the uniqueness of the DeepSeer proposition meant that many of these algorithms would have to be custom-built.

Finally, the Unai team would need to figure out how to present the data to DeepSeer's customers - discovering how they would want to interact with it and developing an end-user application which served their needs well.

What Unai Delivered

  • Data Platform. Unai built a cloud native platform on AWS to ingest and transform data for DeepSeer, then to calculate metrics for the end-user product. The solution was both 100% infrastructure-as-code and serverless.

  • Web Application. The Unai team engaged early DeepSeer customers to ideate, prototype and then deliver an end-user Web Application. Users could explore, customize and export their reports. Team-based and role-based workflows were also supported.

  • Machine Learning. When the service had been live for nine months, Unai prototyped its first machine learning applications. These included a Narrative Analysis capability, which grouped related social media posts and an Influence Algorithm which calculated the impact of content. Both algorithms substantially reduced the time required by human analysts to generate reports.

The Result

DeepSeer has established a foothold serving Government Comms teams and is now expanding its offering to Corporate and Agency customers.

The technology that Unai developed enabled DeepSeer to rapidly scale its operations to cover a variety of geographies and a multiplicity of audience types. The technology was brought in-house and further developed by DeepSeer's new engineering team.

DeepSeer reported seven-figure revenues in its first 18 months of operation.

Working with Unai gave our business the best start in life. We went from a prototype system based on an early product concept, to a live service in under six months. The team were enthusiastic and dedicated throughout what was a steep learning curve for us all.
